Piano, Orchestral Strings, Ukulele, Guitar

Amy Warmenhoven

I was six years old when I had my first piano lesson. In fifth grade, I started learning the clarinet, so that I could be in the school band. I liked band so much that I wanted to be in the orchestra and the jazz band too. That's when I started playing the bass. I played upright bass in the orchestra, and I played bass guitar in the jazz band. Around this time, I also started playing guitar. When I got to college, I chose string bass as my primary instrument, but I also took violin and viola lessons.

My favorite instrument is still bass, but most of my teaching experience is on piano. Other instruments I teach include: guitar, bass guitar, cello, violin, viola, and ukulele.

Students who learn from me get to learn a little bit of piano, regardless of which instrument they choose. I love duets! Sometimes, we play duets on the same instrument. Other times, I will accompany a student on a different instrument. For example, a violin student may play a solo with me playing a piano accompaniment. Pianists and guitarists might have me accompany them on bass guitar.
